2010 Draft Order

Here is the preliminary draft order for 2010. I have taken into account all trades. If, like Al Davis, you are shocked that you do not have a pick in a certain round, please refer to previous posts regarding specifc trades.

All trades are documented and can be found in posts from last summer.

Keep in mind that while I have labled this order "Round #1" it is technically "Round #8" since the first 7 picks are slotted for your keepers.

You can trade draft postions and players up until draft day, just keep us all informed- I have to set the keepers before the draft.

Round #1

1) Alphalpha Sprouts
2) Felix Mantilla
3) Gramercy Riffs
4) Captain Lad's
5) Supreme Clientele
6) Underdogs
7) Billy Martin
8) Bruce Bochte
9) Wade Boggs
10) Blue Ballers
11) Whurlitzer's Arm
12) YAZ Slashers

Round #2

13) YAZ
14) Whurlitzer
15) Ballers
16) Boggs
17) Laddie (Bochte will be picking for him)
18) Martin
19) Underdogs
20) Clientele
21) Laddie
22) Riffs
23) Felix
24) Sprouts

Round #3

25) Sprouts
26) Felix
27) Riffs
28) Laddie
29) Sprouts (Clientele will be picking for him)
30) Underdogs
31) Martin
32) Clientele (Bochte will be picking for him)
33) Boggs
34) Sprouts (Ballers will be picking for him)
35) Whurlitzer
36) Sprouts (YAZ will be picking for him)

Round #4

37) YAZ
38) Whurlitzer
39) Laddie (Ballers will be picking for him)
40) Clientele (Boggs will be picking for him)
41) Bochte
42) Martin
43) Underdogs
44) Clientele
45) Laddie
46) Riffs
47) Felix
48) Sprouts

We then snake back starting with Sprouts in Round 5.

Round 6: Sprouts has Ballers 6th rounder, so Ballers will pick for Sprouts

Round 12: Clientele has Whurlitzer's 12th rounder, so Whurlitzer picks for Clientele

Round 24: YAZ has Sprouts 24th pick, so Sprouts will be picking for YAZ

Hope this all makes sense. If you have questions, ask me.

Minors Rule Change

With a 6-1 vote, we have decided to stop using Rotoworld's Top 150 Prospects List and instead will be using Baseball America's Top 100 Prospect List to evaluate minor league systems.

I changed the scoring to 1 point for a prospect ranked 76-100. Using the Rotoworld tool it was 1 point if your prospect was ranked 100-150. I dont think this is a big deal and is fair if we are shortening the list looking at top 100 instead of 150.

Here is an updated review of how the systems are to be ranked:

Minors draft is held after the Majors draft. It is held on the league page on the message board. Each owner has 24 hours to make a selection. Draft order is determined on the strength of minor league system. Currently players are evaluated according to Baseball America's Top 100 prospect list that comes out in February/March.

5 points – Top 10 prospect or MLB player/non-rookie

4 points – Top 11-25 prospect

3 points – Top 26-50 prospect

2 points – Top 51- 75 prospect

1 point – Top 76-100 prospect

0 points- Not on list/ empty roster spot

If you want the full skinny on how it works, please check here:http://kellyleakall-starleague.blogspot.com/2008/07/minor-league-rules.html

Minor League Rosters pre-draft

Here is a list of the minor league keepers before the minors draft. These rosters will be used to evaluate your minors system according to Rotoworld's Top 150 prospects which should be up in March. Once your system is evaluated, a snake draft order for the minors will be determined. Once the draft order is set, you can do whatever you like with your roster. If you want to drop every guy and re-draft a whole new system you can. All we ask is that IF you drop guys prior to the draft, please tell us, and who it is you are dropping. Do not drop guys in the middle of the minors draft, it makes it hard for those of us who may have a draft board. More to come on the minors later.

T -10 and counting/ minor league adds

10 days left until both major league keepers and minor league keepers are due. Yahoo has traditionally had their leagues up by the second week of February, so I anticipate getting the league up soon. Please check the "Super Bowl Eve" post to see how to access both of your rosters if you have not done so.

Please also remember that if you have a player in your minor league system who had 150 ABs or more, or had 45 IP or more at the MLB level, you must add them to you roster by the end of our draft or they become free agents and eligible for any team to bid on in week #1.
Daric Barton, who is on Team Ozzie, Jeff Clement who is on Team Clientele, and Brandon Wood, who is on Team YAZ, are the three players who need to be added this year. Ozzie, Clientele, and YAZ must add these players to their rosters in the draft (presumably with the last pick) or we can bid on them in week 1. Keep that in mind when finalizing rosters, scouting players, or moving players into the "do not draft column" on Yahoo.

When sending me your major league keepers, remember too that this is a "soft" list up until the draft, and that if you lose a keeper to injury or trade, you can add another player from your 24 man roster to replace him.

One final reminder- the draft will be the last Sunday in March at 6:30 EST/ 3:30 PST unless we can't get that slot (never been a problem before). Please add that time to your calender/Blackberry/i-phone whatever so you don't forget.
Thanks and I hope you guys consider paying me $17 mil like Selig.

Super Bowl Eve

It is the eve of the Super Bowl and that means many things. The sunlight is staying out a little longer each night, I can actually see a sunrise on the way to work, and the weather is getting more and more mild. March Madness is right around the corner, and with it, scouting for the draft. Yahoo should have the site up and running in the next two weeks. I will send e-vites out to all of you guys as soon as I get it established. If you do not want to play in the league this year let me know ASAP. It would be nice so a new owner could get involved right away before the draft.

Your keepers, BOTH for your majors and minors rosters are due on the 17th. Please go to the left hand side of the blog and find the archives section. Click on the arrow next to "2008" and then click on "September". It should give you a list or link to your team's 2008 roster. Please pick 7 guys off this roster for your MLB keepers. You can always substitute another player off of this roster if you need to up until the draft in the event one of your keepers is traded, signs elsewhere, or is injured.

After you have selected your keepers for your MLB roster, please go back to the archives section on the blog and again click on the arrow next to "2008". Click on "July" and click on a post named "July 29th- Minors Rosters". This should allow you to see your minors roster. Please tell me what players you are keeping and dropping. This information is valuable because we can then exclude some minors players from our draft lists, and in some cases, perhaps add them to our draft lists. It will also be helpful when the Rotoworld Top 150 prospects comes out in March and we evaluate your farm team for minors draft position.

The draft order, with traded draft spots, is on the blog in the October archives. Please note where you are picking and when you are picking for another team. Remember that our draft will be the last Sunday in March, around 3:30 PST/ 6:30 EST. Try to clear the time on your schedule.
The league fee is still $25, and I think that is more than reasonable. There will be no economic bailouts. YAZ you cannot pay in Drew Bledsoe Starting Line-up dolls, and Felix, you cannot pay in Asian blow-up dolls. Bruce Bochte "won" the porn prize last year and since he works with Billy Martin, I assume that Bochte has been paid. Because Laddie never claimed the previous year's prize, and because I have added to it, this years last place porn package is bigger than ever-like Tom Byron on a tube8 clip.
Anyway, any questions, please post or shoot me an e-mail. I am eagerly awaiting spring training. I hope you are too. Also, Blue Ballers- way to get the trash talk started early. You are like the Yankees, if you don't win it, you have to make some kind of noise in the off-season. Don't you still owe me beers after I beat you head to head both times last year? Oh yeah, thats what I thought.

Pitchers and catchers in about 30 days

Looks like the player movement has started to level out with pitchers and catchers reporting in about 30 days and the rest of the players coming in about a week after that. If you need to look over your roster to determine your keepers, please look back in the September or October archives. Complete rosters are there.

Remember, 7 keepers are due to me on the 17th of February. If a keeper should get hurt up until a week before the draft, like Escobar did last year on Sprout's roster, I think it is fair to let the manager substitute another player off his 2008 roster to take the injured player's slot. This should only be in cases of emergencies, so please be judicious when naming your keepers.

I will also need your keepers off of your minor league roster on the 17th too. This will help in planning for the draft and, I also expect the Rotoworld top 150 prospects list the first week of March or so. We can look at that as more info becomes available from Rotoworld, but I think that is a fair thing to ask.

Any questions or dipshit comments on Teixshare-ass like Ballers, post them or let me know.

Thanks,
